Stu : Hey peeps. Well one more day in Malaysia then its off to New Zealand. Crazy stuff but cannae wait. Kuala Lumpur has been great. The weather has been superb, which is pretty lucky considering monsoon season is just around the corner. We’ve done all of the usual touristy stuff and made sure we took in the Twin Towers which were pretty cool. Pretty interesting buildings all round. It was the world’s tallest building up until 2004 when it was eclipsed by the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan. Seems these wee Asians like their tall buildings ! Another interesting fact about the Petronas Twin Towers is that they are built to sway 75cms during high winds. Pretty mental stuff. I’d hate to be on the top floor during a storm. Anyway – enough of the boring stuff.
Our visit here has been pretty chilled out all round which is exactly what we wanted before heading over to New Zealand. We’ve ate loads and generally just lounged around by the pool. My liver is slowly but surely recuperating from the excesses of the last few months…which is nice. The occasional beer has been consumed but at £6 a pint orange juice makes a more appealing option. Let me just run that by you again …… £6 a pint !!! What the fook is that all about ? You can get a 3 course meal for around £8 but God help you if you wanted to go out on the lash. Ah well – all the more reason to detox for a bit.
Anyway – we’re both looking forward to New Zealand and I’ve been offered a 6 week contract in Rotorua starting from September 11th which is grand. Only down side is that the geo-thermal town of Rotorua constantly smells of rotten eggs. Still, living with Amanda’s sweaty hobbit feet for the last 7 years has built up my tolerance of nasty aromas so it shouldn’t be too bad.
Speak to you all soon.
Amy : Hey Guys! Well where do I start, Stu’s pretty much covered everything apart from….we went into the ‘proper’ KL the other day to see how the out of towners lived, boy it was interesting if not slightly smelly of sewers. Managed to get a perfect bargain in Central Market, a gorgeous gold silk Chinese Dress with alterations for £14!! How cool…it was such a cheap place to shop in. Some good wee places to eat in as well although the open food markets were to be avoided, apparently they were selling fried chicken, looked more like fried cats and dogs to me so I stayed clear of them even though Stu wanted to eat in there and experience a real Asian cuisine. I am more than happy with my western foods.
Speaking of food we went for dinner in the hotel the other night and there was a chocolate fountain, it was so yummy, it made me think of Carlynn and James as they’re getting one for their wedding, so much fun but so messy – be warned!
Stu mentioned the nice weather, there is no way you can look glamorous here, you sweat constantly, the heat is lovely but can get quite humid on days. I managed to do my usual and get totally sun-burnt, Piglet looks totally embarrassed now :O)
Tried a bit of the local transport, 20p to get you most places in minutes is great. All pulic transport is air conditioned wich is fabby. We’ve experienced the local underground and monorail which is so futuristic looking.
Visited the KL Aquarium today, one of the best we’ve been too, some real interesting sea creatures and creepy crawlies, both Stu and I thought the cages/tanks could have been bigger though.
All in all it’s been an amazing adventure. Oh, almost forgot, I got a Japanese Shiatsu massage yesterday, my body is still recovering. This small woman was the strongest woman in the world, she really beat me up something rotten. It’s the only time I have ever wanted out of a massage, she was poking and prodding my back and spine for ages, I thought I was gonna snap in half! I would highly recommend you NEVER to get one of these, you’ll be in pain for days after. I’m sure however, it will benefit me in the long term…
Anyway that’s all from me…
As you’ll see we have changed some of the photo’s to thumbnails, just click on these and they’ll enlarge, enjoy!
